Cairns day 1 and 2 Feb 10 and 11

Spent most of the day in the air, landed in Cairns at about 330 and getting off the plane it was a bit of a shock to the system.  We left Adelaide and it was 23 degrees and landing in Cairns it was 33 .  Made our way to the hotel, nice room at the best western and took a walk downtown.  This is a happening town.  Definitely caters to tourists.  Cairns is very beautiful city surrounded by mountains and water.  Caught a stunning sunset down along the esplanade.  Had dinner and some beers (few too many) and back to the room by 2am.  This was a bad idea seeing we had  an early am off to the Great barrier reef.  Did manage to get up and down to the pier in time all feeling a bit under the weather but shook it off and had a very nice day.  The reef was very beautiful with plenty of colorful fish.  The funniest part of the day was we were all assigned a full body suit to protect against jelly fish and we put them under a seat while we drove to the reef.  When it came time to put the suits on rob had to pour himself into his I said Rob that is a medium and I am sure they assigned you a large anyway shortly after we were in the suits a small oriental man came up and grabbed a suit under Robs seat that was an extra large (intended for Rob) had to see this he was swimming in the suit and all we could do was laugh.  Rob never gave up the medium as it took too long to get it on.  Caitlyn even got in and experienced the reef with one arm although she ended up swimming in circles.  Unfortunately the pics do no do it justice.  Well to bed for another early am off to Kuranda

  1. So far you trip seems to be going very smoothly, except for poor Caitlyn and her broken bone. I hope she is healing. Cait, you are a trooper!!! The pictures are beautiful. We can't wait to see them all when you get home. Keep on having fun, and Rob we are so proud that you fit into the medium. Bye for now Love Share-Dog
